In their last match of the season Ramsey Ladies provided excellent entertainment defeating champions Vikings A 3-1 with 2nd half goals from Julie, Jo and Laura to finish in 3rd spot just 2 points behind the champions. An excellent season for the ladies and what might have been but for a mid-season spell when 4 points were lost to teams that finished lower in the league. Well done to all. |

An 8 men Ramsey Mens side fought back from 1-3 down in last 10 minutes to draw 3-3 in the cup semi-final, thanks to strikes from Dan and Barry, for J to lead them into the final on flicks. {Not sure that they'll fancy playing Bacchas A or Valkyrs A in the final with just 8?} |

Congratulations to Amy Kneale who was the Rookies leading League goal scorer this season with 10, an outstanding performance. Amy's closest competition was from the two centre forwards Paul Kerruish and Dan Stevenson who only managed 7 each closely followed by Alyn Williams with 6. A great season finishing 3rd in the league, runners up in the Cup final and higest goal scoring team in the club with 45, thank you to all who played for us, hope to see you again next season. Dan |

2008-01-07 |
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL PLAYERS (from Keith & Ben): The provisional squads for the first week of the mens and ladies season are now posted (look out for these each monday evening).
To reduce the amount of time spent organising teams going forward it is each club member's responsibility to look at the website by TUESDAY 6pm each week and confirm by text to Keith that you can or can't play in the team(s) that you have been selected for on the following Saturday/Sunday. Please state the match you are confirming and also use it to advise whether you require a lift from RGS or any other useful information eg 'i could play at a different time/venue'. We are quite happy for one person to confirm a number of players on one text. Any minor adjustments to teams will be ironed out on Wednesday evening. If you know in advance that you are not going to be available for a particular week please advise this early again by text by the Saturday of the previous week, so we know not to select you. If you have a Saturday job which means you can't be at RGS before a certain time again please advise by text. LASTLY - please ensure that we have your current mobile number so that you can be notified when teams are posted and of any late changes. Your co-operation in this manner will be much appreciated, and hopefully we can spend the time saved improving the quality of coaching. Good luck for the season. |

Bacchas 13- Ravens 0. In the semi final of the Heritage Homes Cup Ramsey Raven suffred some tough opposition and with a man down defeat was inevitable but Ramsey were sure to make their presence known with some great play from Joanne Quine and Frank, leading a very young team. John Verrall was solid in defence and there were some great runs from Karmina Kovanda and Alistair Trace. Everyone gave 110% thoughtout the game and Im sure it won't be long til the younger members of the team start giving Bacchas a run for their money. Merry Christmas to all Ramsey Players and Supporters, its been a great year for all and All the Best for the New Year. Hope Santa visits you all. |

Congratulations go to Roadrunners after a fantastic game for all on Saturday in the Tuftex Final against Rookies. Roadrunners dominated the first half and with some great play from substitute Eric and Matt in the middle. They managed to take an early 1-0 lead on Rookies from Rod Smith. At half time a few changes were made to both teams, and Rookies took the early chances in the second half showing that they were still in the game, so much that two finely placed goals from Dan Stevenson saw Rookies go into the lead, 2-1. Rookies continued to dominate with great play from Iain Wood who failed to score due to a certain Kirree-Ann being in the way. It was a break from Roadrunners Eric that took the score to 2-2, taking the game to penalty flicks after a few controversial decisions in the dying minutes. For Roadrunners, Rod, Chris, Simon, Kathryn and Bert were the flick takers and in Rookies it was Dan, Ewan, Woody, Katie and Kirree who stepped up. Each side scored 3 of their flicks each taking it to sudden death where Ewan Heap missed an unlucky flick and Chris Wells lead Roadrunners to victory. I think everyone will agree it was a fantastic game to both play and watch, with some great hockey being played. Outstanding performances were from both keepers, Bert and Kerry, and captains Dan and Simon. Woody, Big Al, Kirree and superb games for Rookies with Matt, Eric, Rod and Kathryn proving invaluable for Roadrunners. |

Firstly I would like to apogise for the blip in the date for the last post as only just realised we are in 2007!!!
Saturday's Matches saw wins for Ramsey Rookies who were playing at 12.30 in Ramsey against an experienced Bacchas side but were lucky in the last minutes to score winning the game 3-2. Goals were scored by a brace from Dan Stevenson and a goal from Chris Wells. Ramsey Ravens were unlucky to lose at the NSC to Bacchas C 1-0. Ramsey A had the 2 pm fixture in Douglas and unfortuantely the final score was 3-2 to Falcons but goals came from Keith Corkill (yes you do read right) and a well-taken Penalty Flick from Sam Corkill. MOTM went to Jason Davies for some superb saves in goal and DOTD went to Sam Corkill for turning up at the wrong place!! The highlight of the day for Ramsey though was the Mhelliah that took place in the Trafalgar in Ramsey which managed to raise over £600 for club funds. Thank you to all those who made contributions, large or small, and to those who turned up for the laugh. And a final big thank you to Jason Davies for the smooth running of the event, it may of been the first lets not make it the last!!! |

Hey Guys,, really need to keep this updated so I know all the gossip and how everybody is doing in their respective leagues!! Anyways scores were as follows for the weekend. Ramsey A took on Bacchas A in the 2 o'clock fixture at QEII unfortunately losing 4-2. Ravens were lucky to win against Harlequins with a late goal taking them to 3-2. Roadrunners maintained their unbeaten run with a win over Bacchas D with goals from Simon Renton, Henry Wood and goal of the day by Karmina Kovanda. Well done all the guys and gals who played!!! Sorry Robins I didn't know your score... Katie |

Rookies penetrated Baccas defence early on in the game and although tit for tat goals on 7 and 9 mins by Amy Kneale and Ben Leaming saw the scores even. Rookies had pushed a 4-1 lead in the first trimester through a Dan Stevenson brace and a Gail Corrin deft touch. Baccas did not allow Rookies to breath easy though and a couple of Tim Leeming runs had Rookies defence worried but goal keeper Kerry Lockwood pulled off some fantastic saves to keep a clean sheet, second half, and Baccas defence was breached 3 more times with Paul Kerruish finding the target twice then Ewan Heap somehow bumbling a goal from centre back. Final score 7-1.MOTM - Kerry Lockwood, DOTD - Ewan Heap |

The new season gets underway with Collins Stewart Day Saturday 1st September. Unfortunately hit by the withdrawal of Castletown late in the day means that fixtures will be rearranged slightly. The morning sees junior hockey for U13 age group with Vikings bring two teams. The senior matches will start approximately 12.15 and go on through the afternoon. A Bacchas social side will be joining us for fixtures against Dan's Social Side and also against a Ramsey Select XI. The highlight of the day is at about 2.30pm when the Collins Stewart Legends XI (or as many as they can muster) take on a Ramsey U18 XI (the slowest one's we can find). The Legends spearheaded by Andy Finch of Collins Stewart at centre forward have amassed a squad of immense talent for this inaugural fixture which includes legendary supporter John Breen, legendary local publican Jimmy Kneen, Gary Merrill a legendary Island U21 goalkeeper, and Joey Gell the legend that scored the Island's goal against the GB squad on the day the NSC was opened, Rob Mackenzie a legend, and Clarkie an legend off the field of play. What hope have the youngsters got! Don't forget to bring a white shirt as well as your Ramsey shirt. And whilst your watching the entertainment there's Barry's Barby and refreshments. |
