| 05/02/2012 - Ramsey finished an excellent 2nd place in the Isle of Man county round of the England Hockey U12 In2Hockey club tournament at the NSC. The team took a little while to settle in the first match against Valkyrs, Connor Parfitt made a couple of good saves to keep them in it, with Fred Buxton and Jake Moore defending stubbornly, before captain Will Greenbank worked his way through to score in the last minute for a 1-0. The second match saw a 2-0 victory against a much younger Castletown side with goals from Alexander Kneale and Chris Curtis. Meanwhile on the other pitch the two principal clubs were battling it out with Bacchas impressive 5-0 victors over Vikings. Ramsey held Vikings to 0-0 and were arguably the better passing side, there were chances at both ends and it was the goalkeepers' turn to star for both teams with some fine saves. In the fourth match Ramsey held Bacchas attack at bay until mid-way through the match, though the pressure on the Ramsey circle had been mounting just before the goal. After the goal Ramsey reshaped but in trying to chase the game left gaps at the back and with 10 minutes gone a Bacchas break away made it 2-0 and a further goal was added in the last couple of minutes, still 0-3 was a creditable effort against a very strong side. The team seemed to be getting better as the afternoon went on and it was a delight when they let loose in the final match - Alexander Kneale got us under way with the first, Jake Moore the second, Alexander netted the third, Billy Cain dinked one over the keeper for the fourth and Chris Curtis rounded it off with a fine strike in the last minute to make it 5-0. Just what was needed, as it meant a runners-up position ahead of Vikings on goal difference, and with it a place in the north regional round to be held in in April in Leeds, and happy faces returning home. |

| 11/12/2011 - As the curtain falls on the mixed season it was an amazing achievement for Rogues and Rascals to be in there fighting with an outside chance of the title for Rascals. In the end it was not to be. Rascals did themselves and the Club proud outperforming Vikings for most of the match in front of a large home crowd comprising parents and senior team players but unfortunately losing 1-2 to two penalty corner strikes. At the other end of the Island by all accounts Rogues were more than a handful for the eventual league winners Castletown (the only club we didn't manage to beat at least once) but eventually went down 3-5. But the real result is not in the fixtures today or the final league positions it is in the recognition that we have competed two teams in the U16 league ensuring that all of you (of which there were 40, more than any other club) received playing opportunities for the teams throughout the season. The teams were split as equally as could be given that some players also had senior team duties at certain times. In that context it has been a very successful term and we have seen significant development in individual players. After Christmas some of you will be making your way - well prepared - into the Mens and Ladies senior teams. These will include Jan and Caitlin, who led their respective teams and carried out their duties as captains in exemplary manner. They will make way for the appointment of a new U16 captain, to be announced shortly, to lead the combined "Rogues and Rascals" team (as we shall have just one team then) in the new league which starts in January. We are also delighted to hear that Harlequins will be entering the U16 league for the first time and as a club we will be supporting them with players if needed until they find their own footing. We hope that you enjoyed this last term as much as we enjoyed coaching you, watching you play and seeing your progression. Rogues and Rascals forever! |

Things kick off with Ramsey Ravens at 11.00 am taking on top of the league Bacchas C - a real grudge match which could see Ramsey move to the top if they can secure a win. At 12.35pm its Ramsey Rookies against Castletown Cosney - Ramsey Rookies are heading for their fourth win in a row to keep them in battle for one of the top spots. At 2.00pm its Ramsey A against Saracens Sabres - a game that Ramsey would love to secure a win with. | 13/09/2011 - We urgently require two team managers, one for U11 teams and one for U13 teams to arrange squads for matches on Sundays. The matches are at the NSC and take place from 12.30pm - 3.30pm. They alternate from week to week between U11 and U13s. There are no matches either side of half term so just four sets of matches for each age group up to xmas. EH Leaders will help with team coaching and umpiring on the match days. If there are no volunteers coming forth then we will not be able to enter teams this season. Managers do not have to be players, they could be parents or other volunteers willing to help with the team organisation. Please contact Keith 421383 by Friday 16th September. |

| 27/05/2011 - On a very wet and windy Saturday last week we attended the 10th Manx Youth games with 24 year 3, 4 and 5 kids most of which only took up hockey in January this year. We put in 2 boys teams and 1 girls team. While the games were only on a quarter pitch with goals the size of a folded up handkerchief the kids played very well using what space they had and passing the ball around in a manner that could only be described as proper hockey. Praise must go to Julie, Keith, Jenny, Sarah and all the other coaches during the year who have obviously done an inspiring job with them. In the end the ‘A’ team finished top of their section with 4 wins and a draw, the second team came 4th (not last !) and the girls despite winning two games 6 nil and 10 nil came second . Congratulations and thank you to all who played, you played in a great spirit and behaved yourselves extremely well on a long and wet day. I was and always will be proud to be your coach, you represented the North and RHC very well. I hope to see you playing for the club in the near future. Many thanks goes to Juan, Nat and Hannah as team managers, after a full day occupying the kids there is now no doubt that their footballing skills have definitely improved. Also big thanks goes to Sarah as my second in command who did a great job all day and especially at the closing ceremony with a load of bored and wet kids, a total life saver. Richard |
| 05/04/2011 - To Simon, Hannah, Jenny, Sarah and Topcoach who successfully completed their Engalnd Hockey Level 1 coaching awards at the weekend AND also to the U16s for their stunning victory over Bacchas U16s. |
| 05/04/2011 - As an England Hockey ClubsFirst accredited club......we have chance to buy some tickets to attend hockey matches during the first week of the Olympic Games. This is a great opportunity as tickets will be hard to get through the public ballot. To help is to know how many we should try and buy (they will be between £20 and £35)we want to get an idea of how many members might want to go. This not an absolute committment at this stage - just an indication so we can decide how many to ask for. So, interested? then email Gail (gailcorrin@hotmail.co.uk) |
| 07/03/2011 - The RHC Quiz Night last saturday had over 100 particpants....quite a lot more than we expected! Overall it was a great success with £800 being raised for the Club. Matthew "Sue Barker of Barnsley" Mosley did a terrific job There were some boo boo's; significnatly a Question of Spots were not the 'wooden spooners, they were in fact third!!!!! A misplaced digit on the score sheet can make such a difference! Again.....please accept our apologies. The Masonic Hall also apologises for running out of lager!!! If you have any ideas about how we could improve the event - please let me know. A very big thank you to Linda White, Jill Bellwood, Ali Burton, Simon Renton, Sandra Grice, Edith Van G, Alison Kermeen, Sandra Smith, Julie Chesterton and RHC Young Leaders, Kate Teare, Sophie White, Nat Smith and Nick White and many others .........for all the wonderful food, raffle ticket selling, marking, raffle prizes and all round help.
