Film Night @ Ramsey Town Hall
After the success of February's Club Film NIght - we are holding another on Sat March 3. Meet at Trawlerman at 5.30pm if you fancy fish and chips, or 6.30pm at the Town Hall (enter via the back door) for the film.

U-18's COACHING TRIP TO OLYMPICS
The Club is offering a fantastic opportunity for UP TO TWELVE junior academy players (ages 13 to 18) to join members of the coaching team for a hockey coaching trip to the 2012 Olympic Games.
Whilst the detail is yet to be finalised:
- departure will be 28th or 29th July
- you will see EIGHT group matches, two on each of 29th, 30th, 31st July and 1st August (7pm - 10.45pm, so you must be prepared to watch a lot of hockey and stay up late!); we assume it will be mens and ladies matches on alternate nights.
- through England Hockey, accommodation has been arranged from 29th July to 1st August (inclusive) at Grange Hotel, St Paul's (five tube stops on Central Line from Stratford), which has been hired out for the event by the FIH and Adidas, so should be a hockey biased hotel.
- the travelling coaches will be Keith, Julie, Rod and Sandra (as welfare officer)
We are planning to a range of daytime activities including some matches and other hockey/coaching related opportunities and also some Olympic and London focused activities.
The trip will be subsidised substantially through sponsorship, costing just £250 plus your expenses for food and any other activities, and further subsidy may be obtainable in certain circumstances from the RHC Development Fund.
The RHC Coaching Team are therefore seeking applications from Junior Academy players who wish to be considered for a place on the trip.
To apply, please put down on a sheet of A4 paper:
- your name
- reasons why you would like to go on the trip
- things that you would hope to gain/learn from the trip
- confirmation that you have checked with your parents that you would be available from 28th July to 2nd August should you be offered a place on the trip
and hand it in to Keith, Rod or Gail by the end of the academy coaching session on Tuesday 14th February.
The coaches will meet with Gail on Wednesday evening to consider the applications and determine a travelling squad.
RHC SENIOR CLUB MEMBERS OLYMPIC TRIP
We have a further 16 sets of tickets (for the same four evening sessions described above) available for purchase @ £35 per session, by RHC Senior Club members.Whilst senior members will arrange their own transport and accomodation we will particpate in some of the Coaching Trip activities and so make RHC's presence at the 2012 London Olympics unforgettable.Contact Gail 489622 to purchase RHC Senior Members tickets.
Ramsey finished an excellent 2nd place in the Isle of Man county round of the England Hockey U12 In2Hockey club tournament at the NSC. The team took a little while to settle in the first match against Valkyrs, Connor Parfitt made a couple of good saves to keep them in it, with Fred Buxton and Jake Moore defending stubbornly, before captain Will Greenbank worked his way through to score in the last minute for a 1-0. The second match saw a 2-0 victory against a much younger Castletown side with goals from Alexander Kneale and Chris Curtis. Meanwhile on the other pitch the two principal clubs were battling it out with Bacchas impressive 5-0 victors over Vikings. Ramsey held Vikings to 0-0 and were arguably the better passing side, there were chances at both ends and it was the goalkeepers' turn to star for both teams with some fine saves. In the fourth match Ramsey held Bacchas attack at bay until mid-way through the match, though the pressure on the Ramsey circle had been mounting just before the goal. After the goal Ramsey reshaped but in trying to chase the game left gaps at the back and with 10 minutes gone a Bacchas break away made it 2-0 and a further goal was added in the last couple of minutes, still 0-3 was a creditable effort against a very strong side. The team seemed to be getting better as the afternoon went on and it was a delight when they let loose in the final match - Alexander Kneale got us under way with the first, Jake Moore the second, Alexander netted the third, Billy Cain dinked one over the keeper for the fourth and Chris Curtis rounded it off with a fine strike in the last minute to make it 5-0. Just what was needed, as it meant a runners-up position ahead of Vikings on goal difference, and with it a place in the north regional round to be held in in April in Leeds, and happy faces returning home.
£100 is the prize for the winning team at this years Question of Sport Quiz.

Well done the bagpackers - raising £1,177 for their efforts.
The first mens ladies and U16 matches are this Saturday 7th Jaunary - teams will be up soon.
As the curtain falls on the mixed season it was an amazing achievement for Rogues and Rascals to be in there fighting with an outside chance of the title for Rascals.
In the end it was not to be. Rascals did themselves and the Club proud outperforming Vikings for most of the match in front of a large home crowd comprising parents and senior team players but unfortunately losing 1-2 to two penalty corner strikes. At the other end of the Island by all accounts Rogues were more than a handful for the eventual league winners Castletown (the only club we didn't manage to beat at least once) but eventually went down 3-5.
But the real result is not in the fixtures today or the final league positions it is in the recognition that we have competed two teams in the U16 league ensuring that all of you (of which there were 40, more than any other club) received playing opportunities for the teams throughout the season. The teams were split as equally as could be given that some players also had senior team duties at certain times.
In that context it has been a very successful term and we have seen significant development in individual players. After Christmas some of you will be making your way - well prepared - into the Mens and Ladies senior teams. These will include Jan and Caitlin, who led their respective teams and carried out their duties as captains in exemplary manner. They will make way for the appointment of a new U16 captain, to be announced shortly, to lead the combined "Rogues and Rascals" team (as we shall have just one team then) in the new league which starts in January. We are also delighted to hear that Harlequins will be entering the U16 league for the first time and as a club we will be supporting them with players if needed until they find their own footing.
We hope that you enjoyed this last term as much as we enjoyed coaching you, watching you play and seeing your progression.
Rogues and Rascals forever!
"Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas"....so better get these two dates in your diary

This coming saturday sees the first of our HOME games to be actually played at home on the newly laid Ramsey pitch. Things kick off with Ramsey Ravens at 11.00 am taking on top of the league Bacchas C - a real grudge match which could see Ramsey move to the top if they can secure a win. At 12.35pm its Ramsey Rookies against Castletown Cosney - Ramsey Rookies are heading for their fourth win in a row to keep them in battle for one of the top spots. At 2.00pm its Ramsey A against Saracens Sabres - a game that Ramsey would love to secure a win with. So let's get as many players, parents and supporters down to Ramsey on Saturday to support the club!!! Sandwiches and Keith's infamous match analysis will be available at the Traf afterwards!! Everyone welcome!
Matthew Grice so impressed selectors at the recent Manchester training camp and subsequent competition weekends, that he has been slected to represent the North of England. He will play for the Pennine Pumas U16 Boys in the 2011 Futures Cup at Cannock Oct 28-30.
Matty - RHC is very proud of you and wishes the very best of luck
PS: Among the crowd at the Futures Cup are England selectors!!!!
